Area Studies Minor
The Area Studies minor allows students to take a variety of courses focused on one region of the world. Students are required to complete a total of 5 courses for 15 credits and fulfill 2 years of region specific language study. Non-language courses must be drawn from a minimum of 3 departments and be graded at a C- or higher.

East Asian Area Studies
Language Requirements: Two years of an approved East Asian language
Chinese, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese
Course Requirements: 15 credits
- Hist 3461: Introduction to East Asian History I—The Imperial Age
- Hist 3462: Introduction to East Asian History II—1600-2000
- Two approved upper division humanities courses on East Asia or a single East Asian society.
- Approved upper division social science course on East Asia or a single East Asian society.
European Area Studies
Language Requirements: Two years of an approved European language
Dutch, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Greek (Modern), Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish
Course Requirements: 15 credits
- Geog 3161: Europe—A Geographic Perspective
- Hist 3722: 20th Century Europe, 1945-1991

Latin American Area Studies
Language Requirements: Two years of an approved Latin American language

- Approved upper division humanities course on South Asia or the Middle East.
- Approved upper division social science course on South Asia or the Middle East.
- Approved upper division course from a different department then the two previous courses on South Asia or the Middle East.
